Rev. Cajetan Mary da Bergamo

Father Cajetan Mary da Bergamo, also known as Padre Gaetano Maria da Bergamo, was an Italian Capuchin friar and author of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He was born in 1672 and professed as a Minor Capuchin in 1692, eventually dying in 1753. Father Cajetan was known for his significant contributions to religious literature and reforming the Italian pulpit by replacing the prevailing vapid rhetoric with a solid, learned, and instructive style animated by zeal and real devotion.

He authored numerous volumes on various religious subjects, with his most notable work being Humility of Heart, a spiritual classic that explores the importance, or rather, the absolute necessity, of humility in Christian life and spiritual growth.
