Bishop E. K. Lynch, O.Carm

The Most Rev. Edward K. Lynch, O.Carm. (1908–1991), was an American Carmelite priest, bishop, and theologian known for his pastoral dedication and commitment to the teachings of the Church. A member of the Order of Carmelites, he was deeply influenced by the charism of the order, which emphasizes a life of prayer, contemplation, and service to others.

Ordained a priest in 1933, Father Lynch served in various roles within the Carmelite Order, particularly focusing on the formation of seminarians and the promotion of Carmelite spirituality. His scholarly and pastoral work emphasized the importance of personal holiness, devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the contemplative life.

In 1969, he was appointed the first bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida, where he played a key role in the development and growth of the diocese.
