Rev. Michael Müller, C.SS.R.

Rev. Michael Müller, C.SS.R. (1825–1899) was a German-born Redemptorist priest and a prolific Catholic author, widely recognized for his clear and uncompromising defense of Catholic doctrine. Born in Brück, Germany, he joined the Redemptorist Congregation and was ordained a priest in 1851. He later emigrated to the United States, where he became a prominent missionary and apologist.

Fr. Müller is best known for his extensive writings on Catholic theology, apologetics, and devotional life. His works include The Blessed Eucharist, Our Greatest Treasure, God the Teacher of Mankind (a multi-volume series), and numerous other books and pamphlets aimed at explaining and defending the Catholic faith. He had a particular focus on the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, the necessity of the sacraments, and the importance of adhering to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

His straightforward and zealous style made him a popular and influential figure among Catholics, though his forthright approach occasionally drew criticism from more liberal circles. Despite this, Fr. Müller’s works remain a significant contribution to traditional Catholic literature, valued for their clarity, orthodoxy, and devotional depth. His legacy is that of a tireless defender of the faith, dedicated to spreading the Gospel and strengthening the spiritual life of Catholics.
