Rev. Michael Sheehan, D.D.
Rev. Michael Sheehan, D.D. (1870–1945) was an Irish Catholic priest, theologian, and author, renowned for his contributions to Catholic education and apologetics. Born in County Tipperary, Ireland, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1895 and later served as Professor of Dogmatic Theology and Irish Language at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth.
Fr. Sheehan is best known for his book Apologetics and Catholic Doctrine, a comprehensive manual on Catholic theology and apologetics, written to provide a clear and systematic explanation of the Catholic faith. The book became a standard text for generations of seminarians and Catholic educators, valued for its clarity, orthodoxy, and practical approach to explaining Catholic teachings.
