Octave Day of the Immaculate Conception December 15

During eight consecutive days the Church celebrates the glory of the Immaculate Conception. During this season of Advent let us fix our eyes on the Virgin who is to give us Christ.

Fair Lily, found among the thorns!

Most beauteous Dove with wings of gold !

Rod from whose tender root upsprang

That healing Flower long since foretold !

— Matins, Hymn

The Imitation of Christ
I am the Lover of purity and the Giver of all sanctity. I seek a pure heart, and there is the place of My rest.
On the calendar we keep the Feast of the Immaculate Conception for eight days, but in our hearts, oh, in our hearts, we keep the feast unending, as do the angels and saints and our Lord in heaven.
Let your heart beat faster at [the] thought of our Lady’s day; let the knowledge that she is soon to give to us the Savior of the world make your love for Mary grow and make itself manifest in the increasing likeness of your soul to hers.
Help me grow like thee, sweet Maid!
