St. Gabriel — Archangel March 24

With a feeling of holy reverence, St. Gabriel came to the Virgin who from all eternity had been chosen to be the Mother on earth of Him of Whom God is the Father in heaven. In the words inspired by the Most High he said: Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

In those days, the Angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David: and the virgin’s name was Mary. — Gospel, Luke 1

The Imitation of Christ
Being grounded and established in God, they can by no means be proud.
Just before the lovely Feast of the Annunciation, comes this Feast of Gabriel who brought to us from heaven the message of our approaching salvation and taught us the Hail Mary.
Say the Hail Mary as devoutly as possible today. Try to be conscious of the presence of an angel at your side as much of the time as you can. You recall how you were accustomed to make room for him when you were small. At least, make room for him in your thoughts today.
Ever this day be at my side.
