St. John Francis Regis June 16

At the age of 18, this saint entered the Society of Jesus. Impelled by the fire of missionary zeal, he labored uninterruptedly for the salvation of souls. On one of his journeys he injured his leg which was healed miraculously so that his work continued without interruption.

I will liken him to a wise man who built his house upon a rock. — Antiphon

The Imitation of Christ
Lift up thy heart to Me in heaven, and the contempt of men on earth shall not grieve thee.
John Francis was on fire with the love of God so much so that when one time while on a missionary tour, he broke his leg, he managed to make the rest of the journey of six miles and then went straight to the confessional regardless of pain.
When a man finishes a football game in spite of a broken collar bone or a broken nose, we think he is quite a hero, and he is. Why should not the love of God, prompt heroic souls to do brave things like that; and are not such men heroes? They are.
The zeal of Thy house hath eaten me up.
