St. Pascal Baylon May 17

As a child St. Paschal tended sheep on the hills of Aragon. At the age of 24 he entered the Franciscans as a simple lay brother. His love and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament induced him to remain for hours on his knees in prayer. Unlettered as he was, he drew such stores of wisdom and learning from prayer that he was counted by all a master in theology and spiritual science.

O God, Who didst imbue blessed Paschal, Thy confessor, with wondrous love of the sacred mysteries of Thy body and blood; teach us, like him, to draw fatness of soul from this divine banquet. — Collect

The Imitation of Christ
There is not anything that I can present to Him more acceptable than to give up my heart entirely to God, and closely unite it to Him.
Paschal who was devoted to the Blessed Sacrament all his life has been assigned as patron of the Eucharistic Congresses.
Will you think for about five minutes today of what you would do without the Blessed Sacrament? Can you think of no Holy Mass, no Benediction, no Holy Communion? Why, you would lose your mind not to have anybody who really understands to whom you could tell your little worries.
I could not do without Him: Jesus means more to me than all the nearest, dearest things on earth could ever be.
