St. Sraphia — Virgin and Martyr September 3

This saint sold all her possessions, distributed the proceeds to the poor, and became a servant.

After her shall virgins be brought to the king: her neighbors pall be brought to thee with gladness. — Gradual: Psalm 44

The Imitation of Christ
But what art Thou to those that love Thee? What to those that serve Thee with their whole heart?
One need not be physically powerful nor do great deeds that call for attention from the multitude to be truly great. Real success and true greatness come of doing one’s duty well. Today’s saint did that; she was a woman, weak and apparently insignificant, unknown to the people who lived on the next street.
Be especially attentive to the wishes of your parents and teachers today, so much that you forget you have any wishes.
I became all things to all men that I might win the more to Christ. — St. Paul
