The Apparition of Our Blessed Lady of Lourdes February 11

From February 11 to July 16, 18S8, the Blessed Virgin came down eighteen times from heaven and showed herself to Bernadette Soubirous in the cave of the rock at Massabielle. On March 25, she said to the little shepherdess: “I am the Immaculate Conception.” The Virgin of Lourdes is clothed in a robe and veil as white as snow; she wears a blue girdle and on her bare feet rests a golden rose.

Arise my love, my beautiful one, and come; my dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hollow places of the wall. — Gradual: Song of Solomon

The Imitation of Christ
Give Thyself to me and it is enough; for without Thee no comfort is of any avail.
Have you ever noticed what very simple unassuming people Heaven always chooses for great tasks? Note little Bernadette Soubirous, for instance. It should prove to you that what really counts and alone is worth while is that we be pleasing to God; and the one way to please God is to do one’s duty well.
You need no special prompting to do things today to honor our Lady, not when you are trying each day to pattern your life as closely as possible after hers.
To honor the Mother is to glorify her Son.
