Those holding power in the world tell us that we are going to have a “new” normal? Clearly a “new” normal will be something artificial or contrived. It will not be something that organically develops. It will be arbitrary.
What is normal? Literally it means what is ordinary or customary, or conforming to a ‘norm’ (or rule or law), or according to the manufacturers specifications.
For men the norm or rule is to Know, Love and Serve God. This is why “God made me”. If I do not know God I have deviated from the norm. Likewise if I do not Love God or refuse to Serve God I am behaving in an abnormal manner. Such behaviour and such a life is deviant.
The norm is also to love my neighbour as myself. To practice mutual charity; help one another; and seek the good of the other. To not overstep my neighbour in business. To help the poor. To pray and do penance for sinners.
For the family it is normal that the Father is the head of the family. He governs and provides for the family. Most importantly he loves his wife. He also enforces the law of God in the home. He ensures that God is known, loved and served in his home, by all the members of the household. He leads the family prayers and the practise of religion. He teaches the catechism and explains the Sunday sermon to the members of his household. He disciplines his children and corrects misbehaviour. The wife respects and honours her husband. She teaches her children to respect their father. She sees that everyone in the household is taken care of according to their needs. She teaches everyone to love one another and sees to it that Charity is the Queen of virtues in the home.
For Society the norm is to seek the common good. To provide an environment in which it is easy to know, love and serve God. To look out for the common welfare. To recognise the true religion, that is, the Catholic Faith, as the religion of the land. To suppress heresy, idolatry, immorality. To submit to the authority of the Church in spiritual matters. To censor errors and immorality and refuse to let them corrupt society. To make the law of God, the ten commandments, the foundation for the law of the land. To conform to the social teaching of the Church.
For the ‘family of nations’ the norm is too work with one another. To have just trade and economic laws. To support one another in wars or disputes with heretics or infidels. To submit disputes among themselves to their common father, the Pope, to arbitrate and find a peaceful solution.
We pray in The Lord’s Prayer “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Where Christ is King there is normality. The family, the business, the city, the nation that has Christ for King is normal. Those that do not have Christ as King are abnormal, deviant. Thanks to Vatican II there are no longer any normal nations.
Examples of Normality
Some families have been normal: The Martin family that raised St. Teresa of the Child Jesus was normal; the Lefebvre family that produced Archbishop Lefebvre and several other religious vocations was normal, undoubtedly even today there are some families where Christ is truly King. Where the parents are determined to put their children on the path to sanctity. Unfortunately most Catholic families are abnormal. They fit in better with the world than with the society of saints.
A thousand years ago, roughly from the years 600 to 1000 Ireland was a normal society earning for itself the moniker “Isle of Scholars and Saints”. Likewise Europe was normal in the 13th century when it truly was Christendom and was united with the Pope as spiritual head. Philip the Fair brought this era to an end at the beginning of the 14th century by rejecting the authority of Pope Boniface VIII and bringing in the lay state. Spain was normal when united by the “Catholic Kings”, Ferdinand and Isabella at the end of the 15th century. The Catholic Kings drove the Jews and the Mohammedans out of Spain; and sent Christopher Columbus to conquer the new world for Christ the King. In the 19th century Garcia Moreno tried to make Ecuador normal and bring in the reign of Christ the King but the Freemasons were too deeply entrenched and too powerful.
The Abnormal World
Neither we nor our fathers have any experience of a normal society, nor a normal international community. A very few have been blessed with a normal family life. Likewise a very few have lived normal lives, these are the saints. To live as a saint is the normal way to live. God made us for heaven. Only saints enter heaven. Only saints are normal. The international society we know is endless wars and corruption.
For over a hundred years deviant behaviour has portrayed itself as normal. We have been accustomed to it and do not hate and detest it as we should. The corruption of society corrupts most men in that society and they no longer stand on Catholic principles.
No Nation or Society tolerating these evils is Normal.
- Religious Liberty: The public practice of false religions is a grave evil. Vatican II promoted this directly. Pope John Paul II and his successors have practised it and also idolatry.
- Blasphemy especially in the media and entertainment, but also in the work place. If TV programmes that blaspheme are allowed in the home. The home is abnormal. Christ is not King in that home.
- Sunday Shopping: This bizarre behaviour appears normal and Catholics often submit to the temptation to shop on Sundays.
- Disrespect for parents is taught in the schools and practised in many deviant Catholic homes. A home where the parents are not respected is very abnormal. Usually this is because the father tolerated disobedience and disrespect of himself or of the children’s mother. Secular and / or Protestant, Islamic, etc., education is an intolerable evil that corrupts the youth.
- Society’s that have abortion and euthanasia are abnormal. However also those that allow scandal of the youth through immoral or corrupt entertainment, immodest fashions, immoral dances and music, billboards, newspapers, dirty books, etc.
- Divorce is one of the greatest deviants from the normal. We are so accustomed to this that we even sometimes succumb to the temptation to support it. “Family courts” have destroyed the authority of the husband and father. Likewise deviant lifestyles are too easily accepted. It is disheartening to hear a Catholic parent speak of their child’s “partner” instead of refusing to accept their child’s deviant behaviour.
- Nations in which a man does not earn a “family wage” sufficient for him to maintain his household are abnormal. Likewise those with unjust taxes, and unjust regulations over private property are abnormal. As are those that force or tolerate women working in jobs unsuited to them. Societies with independent women; women politicians; women in the military; women’s competitive sports; women in universities, etc., are abnormal societies.
- There are no poor houses in a normal Christian society. The monasteries and religious orders and charitable individuals provide for the poor who live decently. Unjust prices and individuals becoming “filthy rich” at the expense of their employees and customers are a sure sign of an abnormal economic situation. We have too easily accepted such a situation and these persons instead of being notorious criminals are treated as celebrities.
- Advertising has little place in normal society. Advertisers take something that no one needs or wants and “creates a market” for it, e.g., “pet rocks”. This is possible only because of Original Sin. It also causes covetousness.
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And think of all the great things we would do
Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
We have all loved “living the life we choose”. The Covid scam has brought an end to those days. They are gone forever. They were never normal. Now we are pining for those days of unbridled liberty, which was in fact licence to do evil. It was a house of cards built on sand. There is no liberty that is not based upon Truth. The life we chose was often sinful, enslaving us to sin. We should rejoice that those days are finished with their accompanying sins.
“Then Jesus said to those Jews, who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to any man: how sayest thou: you shall be free? Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin. Now the servant abideth not in the house for ever; but the son abideth for ever. ”—John VIII
God allows evil only to bring a greater good out of it. Covid has caused many of us to lose our licence to commit sin. If the era of unbridled liberty is finished. This is a good. We have lived for generations under the reign of the lie. The vast majority of men have been deceived for over 100 years by the earthly slaves of Satan the great deceiver. Up until the middle of the 20th century the Popes were not deceived and taught truth to the dwindling numbers of those who would listen. Since then they have also been deceived, and by permitting themselves to be deceived have caused the enslavement of the whole world to error and lies.
Without the Church to oppose them the liars and deceivers have taken control of the whole world. There is no opposition. We now live under an openly totalitarian communist system. It is worldwide and a few men, direct servants of Satan, control all western governments. In opposition to Christendom we have the Kingdom of Satan on earth.
This is not a political problem and there will not be a political solution to it. It is foolish for Catholics to fight for a restoration of the abnormal society that has just finished. A society without Christ as King is not worth restoring. We should rejoice that the era during which sin reigned and Our Lord Jesus Christ was marginalised has been brought to an end.
What to do?
We must work and fight for a society governed by Catholic truth. Where the opinion of the fool is not considered equal to the thoughts of the wise man.
First each must ask himself: Is my home normal? Is Christ truly King in that little corner of creation subject to my authority? If not we must do what we can to bring about the subjection of our own households to Christ the King. To institute a disciplined and ordered family life. This also requires the daily family rosary.
Second we should obey the Blessed Virgin Mary’s requests and keep the First Saturdays. To do this we must make the intention to make reparation for the blasphemies against the Blessed Virgin Mary. With this intention we say the rosary, AND spend fifteen minutes meditating on one or more of the mysteries of the Rosary. Also required are sacramental confession and sacramental Communion. Our Lady does not ask us to do what is impossible. IF there is no priest available and we cannot confess and receive Communion we should do what we can. Examine our conscience and repent of our sins. Say the Confiteor. Make a firm purpose to amend our lives and avoid the occasions of sin. Ask Our Lady to grant us the grace of perfect contrition for our sins. And say a fervent Act of Contrition. Then we should make a spiritual Communion. This is all we are capable of doing if there is no priest available.
Third we should do penance. Penance for our own sins; penance for sinners; penance for the public sins of the Pope and Church hierarchy; penance for the public sins of our political leaders; and penance for the sins of society, for example, one or more of those evils listed above which prevent our society from being normal. Penance is something foreign to most of us. The chief penances are prayer, fasting and almsdeeds. Many of us have never fasted not even during Lent. The Church doesn’t want children to fast because they need to grow and become strong. During Lent they give up things. However, many adults never advance beyond a child’s lent, thinking that if they give up something they have fulfilled the Lenten Fast. But fast does not mean ‘to give up something”, it means to not eat. To go hungry and suffer hunger pains. For prayer we should not be satisfied with saying five decades of the Rosary but insist on saying all fifteen decades every day. Also a daily fifteen minute meditation will greatly help us to serve God more faithfully.
Fourth we should pray that the Pope, in union with all the bishops, consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as Our Lady requested.
Fifth we should ask Our Lady to send a leader who will raise a Christian army and conquer the enemies of God and institute a Catholic civil order. When such a leader appears we must support him.
Probably there are many other things we can and should do. Thus we must follow the good inspirations that the good spirits send us and ask for the grace to properly discern the spirits so that we are not deceived by the evil ones.
Lastly remember that God is in charge. He permits these evil days so that we may be justly chastised for our sins. If we repent and amend our lives the whole world will be blessed. Strive to acquire that relative perfection that God wants for you. One holy soul is more beneficial to the Church and the world than thousands of mediocre defenders of the faith.
Men have not repented. We should anticipate more evils: wars, famines, plagues, etc.

As a young man Alexander Crow practised a trade in his native city of York; but his zeal for God, and the desire to do good to the souls of his countrymen caused him to leave England and study for the priesthood in Rheims.
His superiors were impressed with his virtue and abilities and after his ordination sent him back to England in 1584. He was captured while on his way to baptise a child and taken prisoner to York Castle. After much ill-treatment he received a sentence of death, and his happiness was so great that he could not conceal it in court. Returning to his dungeon he told a fellow-prisoner that he would be executed on the morrow.
Fr. Crow decided to watch that night in prayer with Christ. His companion declared that he also would watch, but the priest bade him lie down and take his usual sleep. Lighting a taper he knelt in quiet prayer. His friend remaining awake saw that he became absorbed in prayer. After about an hour he began to speak. His voice seemed disturbed and agitated. At last he rose and went to his comrade, touching him, and asking if he were asleep. Then he recommended himself to his prayers, because he said he greatly needed them, and returning to the place where he had knelt before, he again seemed troubled.
After a while he extinguished the light, and in a low voice invoked the assistance of the Blessed Virgin and the saints. Then his tones became of one who is angrily conversing with another, and this went on for about half an hour. The gentleman, who was lying sleepless and alarmed upon his bed, persevered in earnest prayer, and at length Father Crow came towards him reciting the psalm Laudate Dominum. Then he burst out in words of praise for the mercy of God, and sat down by the bedside. The great weight of the bolts and chains with which he was loaded had prevented him for many days from lifting his feet to lie down; however he slept as he sat there for about a quarter of an hour.
Then he began again to praise the goodness and mercy of God and asked his friend if he had been alarmed. He afterwards related that as he prayed he had suddenly beheld a most repulsive monster, who had filled his soul with terror. “Thou thinkest to be a martyr tomorrow,” said this evil one, “and go straight to heaven, but I assure you that it will not be so. Thou art condemned to hell, and the sentence is passed against thee in God’s tribunal.”
The priest only prayed the more earnestly as the enemy of souls thus assaulted him; but still the monster spoke terrible things, telling him that he should be sent back to prison and loaded for two more years with bolts and chains. “Therefore it will be better for thee at present to put an end to thy life by a knife or halter, and not wait for the morrow.”
The good Father said that he kept answering the devil according as God seemed to give him words, and at length help was granted. A shining and clear light broke into the room, and two glorious figures, which seemed to be the Blessed Virgin and St. John, appeared, and upon their coming the monster began to tremble. “Begone from hence, thou accursed creature,” said a voice of heavenly sweetness; “thou hast no part in this servant of Christ, who will shed his blood to-morrow for his Lord, and will enter into His joy.” And upon that the evil spirit vanished, and the priest felt that all his fear was turned to peace and consolation.
God suffered His own Son, Christ Jesus, to be tempted by the devil, and we know that it was as a sign to us that we must be vigilant and ready for his attacks. In some way or other our spiritual enemy will molest us as long as we live, no place is so solitary but he will try to enter it; and he will even try to wrest from the martyr his crown and palm of victory. It is but rarely he is seen in visible presence, as he was seen by this priest who was awaiting death; yet there is not one of us, though young, or weak, or ignorant, but feel him near in temptations from within our own hearts, and temptations all around us. Then in such time we must use the weapon of prayer, earnestly imploring the assistance of Our Father in heaven, Who has said, “my grace is sufficient for thee.”
Once more did God permit his faithful servant to be assaulted by the powers of darkness. As Father Crow stood upon the ladder at the gallows, the devil, in envious hatred, flung him to the ground, but although the height from which he fell was great, he received no injury, for One Who was almighty had given His angels charge over the expectant martyr.
As soon as he had remounted the ladder, the good man addressed a few words to the people, and then passed away through the gate of death to his glorious reward. This happened upon the 30th March, 1587, when he was about the age of thirty-five years.

A Misconceived Liturgical Movement
Volume 1 “Active Participation”

Dr. Byrne begins by demonstrating that the desire that there be “active participation of the laity” in the Liturgy is falsely attributed to St. Pius X. What the Pope wanted was that the faithful participate more fervently and ardently. Their participation was to be prayerful, not vocal.
She explains that the methods of the revolutionists were communist. “Furthermore, the expression ‘active participation’ is an example of the insidious langue de bois (‘wooden language’) –the French term for the bureaucratic lingo that was spoken and written by Soviet leaders and functionaries to disguise the fact that their policies were not implemented for the good of the people. It may come as a surprise to most Catholics today that the type of rhetoric imbued with Marxist-Leninist ideals which once characterized Soviet propaganda would be deployed to further the aims of the Liturgical Movement and Vatican II. By ruthlessly imposing the slogan ‘active participation’ in every aspect of the liturgy and brooking no argument against it, the reformers have adopted a strategy that is innate in all totalitarian regimes: the abuse of language and power. And by this means they have insured the success of the Liturgical Revolution.
Throughout the Twentieth Century this revolution progressed. Secretly at first but then under Popes Pius XI and Pius XII more openly, enabling it to take power during and after the Council. In addition to bringing in liturgical reforms the revolutionaries attacked the popular devotions (the Rosary, Stations, etc.) of the faithful as a hangover from superstitious pre-modern times and rejected them as being ‘saccharine’, ‘sentimental’ and ‘individualistic’.
Pius XII’s Mediator Dei, 1947 is a ‘political document which takes both sides of the debate’. But he gave the reformers room to advance and even praised them “The movement owes its rise to commendable private initiative and more particularly to the zealous and persistent labour of several monasteries within the distinguished Order of St. Benedict.” And “We derive no little satisfaction from the wholesome results of the movement just described.”
Pope Pius XII continually was conciliatory toward the revolutionaries and legitimatized dissent by not checking the animosity to the liturgical traditions and approving abuses. In a series of “Congresses” at various monasteries Maria Laach 1951, Mont Sainte-Odile (1952), Lugano (1953) and Mont-César (1954), and Assisi (1956), revolutionary ideas were promoted unchecked.
- Reform of the priest’s silent prayers during Mass
- Suppression of the prayers at the foot of the altar
- the Mass up to the preface to be said away from the altar denuded of sacred vessels
- a longer cycle of scriptural readings, all only in the vernacular
- introduction of bidding prayers with vernacular responses by the faithful
- less frequent recitation of the Credo
- elimination of the Confiteor before Communion
- suppression of all prayers after the blessing, i.e., the Last Gospel and the Leonine prayers
- elimination of some genuflections of the priest, signs of the Cross, and kissing of the paten
- simplification of the formula of Communion to Corpus Christi
- increased opportunities for the faithful to join the singing especially by new melodies in the vernacular at Communion
- the laity to “pray and sing in their own tongue even during Sung Masses”
- all Scripture readings to be in the vernacular
- revision of all ceremonies of Holy Week in line with the recently revised Easter Vigil.
- A more extended cycle of scriptural readings at Mass
- a new rite of concelebration
This book takes an objective look at the Pius XII changes to the liturgy and shows how he instituted the practise of subordinating immemorial tradition to papal authority on the basis of subjective opinions of the reformers, in a manner that would be adopted by Paul VI on a much grander scale.
Cardinal Vaughan (Archbishop of Westminster 1892-1903) writing against the Cranmer reforms “in adhering rigidly to the rite handed down to us, we can always feel secure; whereas if we omit or change anything, we may perhaps be abandoning just that element which is essential... That in earlier times local churches were permitted to add new prayers and ceremonies is admitted... but that they were also permitted to subtract prayers and ceremonies in previous use and even to remodel the existing rites in the most drastic manner, is a proposition for which we know of no historical foundation and which appears to us incredible. Hence Cranmer acted with the most inconceivable rashness.”
Archbishop Bugnini, acting under the authority of Pius XII was a worthy disciple of Cranmer, many innovations in the Holy Week ceremonies are analysed and Dr. Byrne explains how they lead to the Conciliar reforms of the Mass, sacraments, etc.
- Downplaying of the Holy Trinity (opening to those who don’t believe in the Trinity)
- Washing of the feet of laymen (faithful can now actively participate in the sanctuary and stand in the position of priests)
- The practical elimination of the penitential Psalm 50
- Tenebrae moved to morning
- The elimination of the Mass of the Presanctified
- downgrading the Altar of Repose
- the priest denied his right of carrying the Blessed Sacrament, now it is done by a deacon (Dr. Byrne doesn’t mention it but this is the first procession of the Blessed Sacrament in history where the Sacred Host is not honoured with incense.)
- gutting of the blessing of the new fire, and of the blessing of the incense and of the candle
- separation of the blessing of the baptismal water from the baptismal font
- renewal of the baptismal vows where the laity dialogue with the priest in the vernacular
- reduction of the penitential spirit, including the elimination of the folded chasuble
A Statement by Archbishop Lefebvre
Ending of talks with Rome after the May 5, 1988 Protocol
Indeed, it would be difficult to understand why the talks ceased if they are not placed in their historical context. Although we never wanted to have a break in relations with Conciliar Rome, even after the first visit of Rome on Nov. 11, 1974, had been followed by measures which were sectarian and null—the suppression of our work on May 6, 1975, and the “suspension” in July, 1976—these relations could only take place in a climate of mistrust.
Louis Veuillot says that there is no one more sectarian than a Liberal; in effect, having made a compromise between error and Revelation, he feels condemned by those who remain in the Truth, and thus if he is in power, he persecutes them fiercely. This is the case with us and all those who are opposed to the liberal texts and liberal reforms of the Council.
They absolutely want us to have a “guilt complex” in relation to them, but it is they who are guilty of duplicity. Thus it was always in a tense although polite atmosphere that relations took place with Cardinal Seper and Cardinal Ratzinger between 1976 and 1987, but also with a certain hope that as the auto-demolition of the Church accelerated, they would end up taking a benevolent attitude towards us.
Up until that time, the goal of the contacts for Rome was to make us accept the Council and the reforms, and to make us recognize our error. The logic of events had to lead me to ask for a successor, if not two or three, to assure the ordinations and confirmations. Faced with the persistent refusal of Rome, on June 29, 1987, I announced my decision to consecrate bishops.
On July 28, Cardinal Ratzinger opened up some new horizons which legitimately gave us reason to think that finally Rome looked at us more favourably. No longer was there any question of a doctrinal document to be signed, or asking for pardon, but an Apostolic Visitor was finally announced, the Society could be recognized, the Liturgy would be that of before the Council, the seminarians would retain the same spirit!
Thus we agreed to enter into this new dialogue, but on the condition that our identity would be well protected against liberal influences by bishops taken from within Tradition, and by a majority of members in the Roman Commission for Tradition. Now, after the visit of Cardinal Gagnon, of which we still know nothing, the disappointments piled up.
The talks which followed in April and May were a distinct disappointment to us. We were given a doctrinal text, the new Canon Law was added to it, Rome reserved for itself five out of seven members on the Roman Commission, among them a President (who will be Cardinal Ratzinger) and the Vice-President. The question of a bishop was solved after much hemming and hawing; they insisted on showing us why we did not need one. The Cardinal informed us that we would now have to allow one New Mass to be celebrated at St. Nicolas du Chardonnet. He insisted on the one and only Church, that of Vatican II.
In spite of these disappointments, I signed the Protocol on May 5th. But already the date of the episcopal consecration caused a problem. Then came the project of a letter asking the Pope for pardon, which was put into my hands.
I saw that I was obliged to write a letter threatening to do the episcopal consecrations to arrive at the date of August 15 for the episcopal consecration.
The atmosphere is no longer one of fraternal collaboration and pure and simple recognition of the Society—not at all. For Rome the goal of the talks is reconciliation, as Cardinal Gagnon says in an interview granted to the Italian journal L’Avvenire, meaning the return of the lost sheep to the flock. This is what I express in the letter to the Pope on June 2: “The goal of the talks has not been the same for you as for us.”
And when we think of the history of relations of Rome with the traditionalists from 1965 to our own day, we are forced to observe that there has been an unceasing and cruel persecution to force us to submit to the Council. The most recent example is that of the Seminary Mater Ecclesiæ for drop-outs from Ecône, who in less than two years, have been made to serve the conciliar revolution, contrary to all promises!
The present conciliar and Modernist Rome can never tolerate the existence of a vigorous branch of the Catholic Church which condemns it by its very vitality. No doubt we shall have to wait yet another few years, therefore, for Rome to recover her Tradition of two thousand years. As for us, we continue to prove, with the grace of God, that this Tradition is the only source of sanctification and salvation of souls, and the only possibility of renewal for the Church.

...Another case in point: ...Fontgombault Abbey now has to use the NO Mass for their conventual mass... They said that Fontgombault could keep their tradition...and they (Rome) change the Tradition...! (re: Cardinal Mayer) WE CAN NOT HAVE CONFIDENCE, it is not possible!!
Arch Lefebvre then gives a final extraordinary example about another betrayal from Rome. 1986 ?

Vaden? , Switzerland , who in turn phones Cardinal Ratzinger ( they both speak German) telling him that 9 seminarians wanted to leave Econe. Cardinal Ratzinger. said: " Oh! Excellent! that is very good news, this is a unique opportunity! If we take them, if we promise them marvellous things maybe others will come!" And he said this explicitly, Card. Ratzinger. :" I am happy some are leaving Econe and I hope others will follow the first ones who left. " So they established the famous Seminary Mater Ecclesiae ... To attract others seminarians who share the same "sensibilities". So these seminarians left Econe, about 20 seminarians.
"I assure you that it is really worthwhile reading this letter that we have just recently received from Abbe Carlo ,the mastermind of the exodus. He writes the title in large characters at the beginning of the letter :
I REGRET, we have lost everything! No promises were kept, we are now miserable, we have nothing left...We don't even know where to go!...They tell us: " Now, go back to your dioceses. Go back to your seminaries, go where you want, etc. " They removed the liturgy, they removed everything, everything. I regret. We made several requests. The answer to our requests is silence. Each house of these priests was designed to be gradually aligned with progressivist (agendas), and now this has been completed. They kept none of their promises. We are miserable. We are now the laughing stock of the progressives, superiors, and traditionalist communities. With each passing day the situation is degrading. The priests defrock; are accepted by bishops by renouncing everything. In Switzerland sanctions were imposed...those who were supposed to take care of us are abandoning us. "You get in touch with the French bishops". There are no more options. "
A Muslim Risks All to Follow Christ

A wealthy young Muslim from Baghdad meets a Catholic in the military and receives a bible from him which he cannot put down. He becomes determined to eat “the bread of life”. He studies more and wants baptism. Meanwhile his father organises a marriage for him which will benefit both wealthy families. Eventually he is obliged to tell his betrothed that he is Christian. He is not very welcome in the Catholic Churches in Baghdad and the post-Conciliar clergy deny his demands for baptism. He puts it down to fear of repercussions from the government and in society. In my opinion he was refused baptism because of the Conciliar religion liberty and ecumenism which deter conversions. A Catholic priest would never refuse to baptise an infidel.
After prison, torture, and attempted murder and years in hiding caused by the embarrassment of his family who have “lost face” by his conversion he finds a priest to baptise him and his family. His wife following his exhortations and good example has also become a Catholic. Eventually they escape to France. He and his wife sacrifice their families and fortunes for the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ. They were many seemingly supernatural interventions enabling them to escape persecution. The story ends abruptly with their arrival in France and it is not clear but it seems that they embraced traditional Catholicism. It is inconceivable that the Holy Ghost would lead a man to the Conciliar Church.
This is an excellent conversion story and demonstrates that, as we read in the Last Gospel at daily Mass, That was the true light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world. God does not allow men of good will to remain in darkness. Joseph Fadelle was blessed to receive the grace of Faith despite being in Muslim society. He is a refugee that will benefit Europe.
